The year is 2005, and Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart and LenDale White are in the middle of one of USC's most prolific seasons in its history.
Cutting through defenses like a hot knife through butter, the team routinely scores 50 points - sometimes by the end of the third quarter - en route to an undefeated regular season and a birth in the BCS National Championship Game.

With the 29th Olympic Games sadly completed, its time to take a look at those who competed.

Since its debut 10 years ago, the cover of EA Sports' "NCAA Football" video game series has been reserved for icons.
Heisman Trophy winners Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson and Reggie Bush exemplify the standard, so a Facebook-circulating Photoshop job placing Cal Poly wide receiver Ramses Barden on the cover of this year's XBOX 360 version may seem a bit far-fetched.

The Cal Poly football team will take a step up in competition this year when it plays two Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) teams. But don't expect the Mustangs to move up to the FBS permanently - at least not yet.
Responding to a recent comment Fresno State head coach Pat Hill made to the Fresno Bee suggesting Cal Poly would eventually belong to the Western Athletic Conference, Cal Poly athletic director Alison Cone said such a move is unlikely to take place in the near future.

One of USC coach Pete Carroll's favorite mantras is "Own the Rose Bowl."
Perhaps this year USC should look into taking out a lease in Miami.
The Trojans walked away from their last visit to South Beach with a national championship, derailing Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, 55-19.
